Are you a powerful person? What makes us powerful?

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

 — Gandhi

Power is what people strive for. This feeling makes us self-confident and inspire us to overcome obstacles and conquer new peaks. But the only desire to be powerful does not make us to be so. If you want to be powerful you need to know what can make you be such a person. First of all, let’s find out what does it mean to be powerful.

While trying to find out the meaning of the word “powerful” I have found several definitions such as:

  • Someone who influences and has prestige;
  • Someone who is leading to many essential deductions;
  • Someone who can control people or events, someone who has a great effect on something;
  • Someone who can increase something very small or far away many times.

The synonyms of the word “powerful” are significant, influential and strong while antonyms are helpless, unimportant, and weak. So, as you may see to be powerful does not mean only to be, it is about action. If you want to be powerful you should be extremely strong not only in your words but in your actions.

The powerful person is significant. What makes us significant? I think the person is important in case this person brings some value to other people. This value is not only material or financial. It is the ability “to give” and “to dedicate” your time, energy and love.

It is not obligatory to be a leader, it is essential to be human. I am sure that all “human” people are powerful. It is always easy to be negative and share negativity around other people, but it is always hard to keep a positive spirit and make other people’s lives happier.
